Gadangme Heritage & Cultural Foundation wishes to introduce:
DR. NII ASHITEY TREBI-OLLENNU.
DR TREBI OLLENNU is a Ghanaian scientist who is currently serving as a Control Systems and Test Engineer for the Field Integrated Design and Operations (FIDO) Testing task with NASA.
Dr Ollennu received his primary school education at Garrison Primary School in Burma Camp in Accra, Ghana. He attended GSTS in Takoradi, Ghana where he received the Ordinary Level, General Certificate of education and the Advanced Level certificate.
Dr. Ollennu earned his B.Eng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering from Queen Mary College, University of London, England, and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
In August 1996, the young Dr. Ollennu won the prestigious British Council Young Research Workers Grant for a four-month Visiting Post Doctoral Fellowship to Research Group in Industrial Electronics. The focus of the research was on sensor-based algorithms (vision, acoustics, etc.) for the surveillance and swarm technologies
Dr. Ollennu currently serves as a Control Systems and Test Engineer for the Field Integrated Design and Operations Testing task. His current research at JPL focuses on Planetary Rovers, Multiple Mobile robots (Planetary Outpost). In 2001, Dr. Nii Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu was a member of the FIDO team that was awarded the NASA Group Achievement Award for significant contributions to Mars 2003 Rover Science Operations. Dr. Trebi-Ollennu also works on 03 Mars Exploration Rover as and IPS Test and Ops Engineer.
Ghana, and indeed, GaDangme people are all proud of Dr. Trebi- Ollennu’s hardwork and outstanding achievement. We hope young GaDangmes and other Ghanaian youths will be inspired by Dr.Trebi-Ollennu’s hard work and dedication and follow his footsteps.

MRS ELIZBETH ( NAA BAAKE) QUARSHIE (NEE NAA ADEE KOTEY):
GADANGEME HERITAGE & CULTURAL FOUNDATION wishes to introduce Mrs Elizabeth Quarshie to its readers and viewers. Mrs Quarshie was born at Konforidua, Ghana. She hails from GaDangme heritage; her parents were from Osu, Greater Accra. Her father was a painter with the Public Works Department, Accra and her mother was a housewife. She attended Aburi Girls Secondary School in 1968. She immigrated to Canada in 1972, and became a Canadian citizen in 1977. Mrs. Quarshie holds a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering from Washington State University, an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree from University of Saskachewan, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biological Sciences from Notre Dame University.
In addition, she holds a Certificate in oil and Gas Economy from Princeton/Oxford University Program.
Mrs Quarshie was appointed Deputer Minister of Environment by Governement of Saskatchewan in 2007 Saskatchewan Enviroment's six main business divisions are: Environment Stewardship, Environmental Assurance, Environmental Management and Enviromental Management of Mines and Oil and Gas, and Research and Sustainable Development. Each is supported by People Services, Communication, Legal Services, Finance and Administration and the Strategic Secretariat. Staffing complement 1500.
Prior to her appointment, Mrs. Elizabeth Quarshie served as a Board Member on the National Eenergy Board of Canada and participated in the development of performance measures of energy, electricity, mines, oil and gas, and sustainable development. In that position, Liz prepared and presented rulings on applications following hearings on multimillion to billion dollar projects. She steered the development of Board positions on significant energy issues, including co-operative agreements with multiple stakeholders, (e.g., Mackenzie Valley Cooperation Plan); and setting the NEB total quality management system with respect to ISO 9001 and 14001.
Between 1987 and 1999, Mrs Quarshie held various positions with Cameco and Areva (uranium mining companies) respectively in Saskatoon. In these positions, Liz led preparation of numerous Enviromental Impact Assessments for uranium mining projects in all North America, France and Africa and performed audit and compliance . She also developed and implemented Environmental, Health, Safety and Security and risk management programs. Mrs. Quarshie also participated in commissioning and decommissioning of mine facilities and mine operation sites, and played leading role in all aspects of project approval including public hearings. stakeholders consultations, regulatory matters, government negotiations, MOU development with Aboriginal groups and Inuits in the Artic Region of Northern Canada.
Elizabeth holds Professional Certification in Geo. Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan; Certified Professional Environmental Auditors (CPEA); and Certified Enviromental Management Systems Lead Auditor
Mrs. Quarshie has researched and published over 57 research findings and has presented several articles at provincial, national and international conferences. Her latest article entitled " A Regulator's Perspectives of the Challenges Facing the Pipeline Industry" was published in the Global Pipeline Monthly, and internal Energy Journal in the United Kingdom.
She has contributed to many benevolent efforts. Her outstanding achievements have brought honour not only to her, but to her family, GaDangme people, and indeed, Ghana as whole as well as women and visible minorities. It is hoped that Mrs. Quarshie's outstanding achievements will serve as an inspiration to Ghanaian youths, and GaDangme youths, in particular to work assidously with faith in God, discipline and dedication to achieve greater laurels in whatever educational and/or professional fields they choose to pursue.

Mrs Naadu Mills was recently awared a Honourary Doctorate degree by Goodwin College in the United States. Dr. Naadu Mills is Ghana's First Lady; wife of President Ata Mills of Ghana. Dr.Naadu Mills hails from GaDangme heritage. This website wishes to join all well-wishers in congratulating Dr. Naadu Mills.
The Crossroad, Osu Incident.
Today, February 28, 2011 marks 63 years when on February 28, 1948,Sergeant Adjetey, Private Odartey Lamptey and Coporal Atipoe, along with other Ghanaian ex-service men marched unarmed to the Castle at Osu, Accra to submit a petition to the then Governor of the Gold Coast. They were callously murdered by British forces at the Crossroad, Osu, Accra. Their heroic sacrifies paved the way towards the struggle for Ghana's independence. This website salutes our gallant heroes and their memory.

Homowo Festival: This year, the Homowo Festival will be celebrated in GaMashi (Accra) by GaDangme citizen of Greater Accra, on Saturday August 13, 2011. Homowo Festival is celebrated annually by GaDangme people of Greater Accra, Ghana as part of their Hebraic custom as indicated in the Holy Bible. See: Exodus 11:4-7; Exodus 12: 1-50; Exodus 13: 1-9; and Numbers 9: 1-5. The GaDangmes celebrate the Homowo Festival to mark the FEAST OF PASSOVER.
The GaDangmes also celebrate the Homowo Festival in remembrance of the famine their ancestors endure in the wilderness all the way from ancient Israel to their present abode in Greater Accra, Ghana.
